fussy deportments, capricious postures, the seal and cover, glaze and varnish, simmer and seethe, fester, smolder, and the mind; convictions float and coerce, the hips and hops, endorse emotions, volatile, fluctuating torrents and surges, temperamental and moody, shall face, encounter, the end of journey, the ripped intentions.

Fury and rage not to stay to wonder, extend and offer, flow, flux and fear, impound, encounter, absorb and accept oceans’ surface game, lions and pumas, cougars and panthers, the voice of instincts, dispose the nature, remain and linger, resume and endure, perform and persist, the tides and webs, not mark the motions.

The core and the hub, center and pivot, the chest and torso, containers and coffers, secure the bundle, the gem of passion, the jewel of wonder, the ether, sky, to send florets, ravish devotions, enchant commitments, only to ponder, treasure of bounty, droplets of water, oceans plunder the corms, rhizomes, which, curtail the motions, stealth the notions.

shines and shimmers, gleams and glows, dazzles and dazes, not urge commotions, the fusses and stirs, pertain the arches, full of flowers, twinkles and sparks, glosses and luster, unpeel and unwrap, break and rupture, unbolt and flee, the veils and covers, the chains and shackles.

Destiny and fortune, kismet and opulence, virtues and faiths, entail the schemes, commends and contours, to share and expose, inhale and endorse, where, broken hearts, thwarted allures, foiled and ruined contents and conscious, the loss and hurt, spirals and swirls, soars and curls, when, the castles of thoughts, citadels of healings and exchange, and the bastions of hominoids’ harmonies and concords, stems and stalks foresee the fortunes, shoot for blossoms.

Red roses flourish, proliferate and thrive, breed and bloom, the thorns and barbs, spikes and spins, compose and marshal, territories and terrains, the guards, shields, and chaperones, wardens of dreams, companions and attendees, absorb the ordeals, the clouds sparkling horizons, the angels carrying the burdens, and the thirsty drought driven pouches and bulges, shimmering the mists and fogs.

While, consolidations, unions, the merging, joining and bracing, the urges and compulsions, incite and insist, cadences and rhythms, paces and beats, ensure and warrant, merits and assets affirm and declare, the bond, fixation, pertain and persist.

The coasts, limpid terminuses, the pellucid droplets of faiths and promise, the waves and surges, murmurs and mutters, seeking elations, raptures, blisses, whispers do utter, mumbles and babbles, susurrate and divulge, the maze of aura and vigor, the web of air and glow, the entity of essence and soul, reiterate the joy, delight the pearl, surmise the shore, and tip the toes, the given choices, conferred medleys, the carried certitudes and sureties, enthrall the meadows, captivate the shores, rivets, the soul and core, enshrine, hallow, and cherish, while the remainder spoils and perish.

Are engendered and spawned, the hearts, the hubs, and the nubs, the horizons are interminable, and the spheres are vivid. The oceans, revive and resurrect, startle and amaze, seas all gathered and spread, to ponder and muse, the deliberated thoughts, manifested feelings, the judgements and beliefs.

The trails are the choices, the solo star shines and honors, the burden and onus, define and stun, the circle and the compass, draw and ensue, the trails and tracks, the routes and the means, propose and draft, only, not to yield and cede to hollows, not to yoke to falls and follows, then, only to remain, the murmur and whisper, choruses, harmonies and carols, shall susurrate her songs.

Stanza Analysis

Themes & Interpretations

The Interior Furnace

Before the first capricious posture is struck, something smolders. “Simmer and seethe, fester, smolder, and the mind” — the surface volatility that opens the poem is not primary but derivative, the visible exhaust of an interior combustion already underway. Convictions that float and coerce drive the body’s instability at a level beneath all presentation. The poem insists: to understand the posture, descend first to the furnace.

Ruin as Foundation

What is ruined in this poem is not merely charm or appeal but “contents and conscious” — the inner life and awareness themselves. Yet Dr. Bemanian refuses the therapeutic model. Shattered consciousness does not heal into restored wholeness; it becomes “castles of thoughts, citadels of healings, bastions of harmonies” — fortified architecture built from wreckage, and from that architecture, stems and stalks shoot toward blossoms. Ruin is not the ending but the first of three movements.

Beauty and Its Guardians

The ancient rose-and-thorn motif is entirely redrawn. The thorns do not accompany beauty as its unfortunate price; they “compose and marshal territories and terrains,” creating the ordered space within which the roses can flourish. More profoundly still: the companions and attendees “absorb the ordeals” — they take suffering into themselves on behalf of what they protect. Defense is not merely structural but sacrificial, intrinsic to flourishing rather than opposed to it.

The Ethics of Selection

The coastal stanza makes a hard philosophical claim without apology: “enshrine, hallow, and cherish, while the remainder spoils and perish.” What is chosen with certainty is sanctified; what is not chosen decays. The poem refuses the elegiac attachment to unchosen paths, insisting instead that authentic value requires the full weight of selection. To hallow what is carried, one must accept — without sentiment — that the unchosen perishes. The pellucid droplets of faith belong only to what is genuinely chosen.

The Choral Remainder

The poem ends not with the solo star’s private luminosity but with choruses, harmonies, and carols that “susurrate her songs.” After fury has converted, ruin has become architecture, and the self has refused both hollows and falls, what remains is not silence but the woven polyphony of devotion. The feminine “her” appears once, at the very end, held in reserve throughout the poem’s full arc and named only here — the destination of every smoldering, every thorn, every tide that did not mark the motions.
