Storms and squalls, outbursts, upsurges and eruptions, perceived or encountered, felt or discerned; surroundings blur, blotches alert——— the jolts and shudders, lurches and judders, maneuver and puddle, echoes and the booms; ricochets and blooms, do burn and fume, the air and ether, erupt and seethe, the dooms and fates, flare or conceal.

Ambiences and moods, characters and tones, remedy and resolve, the angles and twists; correct and congeal, sequels and upshots, do form and mold, conclusions and endings; evolve and commence, the lonely fish in the pond, the maze to swim, not fearful or timid, tarn of glare, does push the seal.

Storms to pass, sun redeems, reach and sway, touch one’s dreams, the lonely fish, swim, swim; to sow the seeds, the wills and depth, blues and poses, drops and dashes, entangle and submerge, still, the pats and taps, embrace and encompass; to caress and cuddle.

Oblivious, neglectful, evanescent, ephemeral intents and deeds, fugacious gales and squalls, the bashing fatigue, jolt and jar, and the wavering, vacillating and quivering panics and alarms, mix and match, or crumble and collapse.

The junctures arrive, the sole Birds, leave the nests, squirrels’ wince and flinch, out of the gulfs, pits, and dips——— foretell the marvels, foresee the awes, the charms and charismas, impound the earth, seizes the souls, cleanse the stains——— dancing trees stand taller, rocks and creeks hosting the water, and the gold eagles, to push and thrust, climb, soar, and rise———

Pounded, throbbed, pulsated; torrents, deluged, and immersed, seeking trails and pathways, merging clouds and escapes, chirpings, cheeping, tweeting, jungle full of sacred birds, tangle, muddle, lively tones, mending the wings, fixing bones.

While, the hearsay of passersby, the tales and narratives do survive, is it the hopes to reply, or the gluts, gushes to supply, running moments, plunder; broken wings surrender, healing the core and bases, reverberate the wonders.

Destiny, fate, and fortune, surpasses, ameliorate, and transcend, still, the neglected minds, directions, commands, empty routes, trends, drifts, and flows, do pave the path and courses, and you, the rainbow to survive, jiffies to sort, maraud and raid.

Stanza Analysis

Themes & Interpretations

Semantic Architecture

“Storms and squalls,” “jolts and shudders,” “lurches and judders” — Dr. Bemanian builds meaning through the systematic pairing of synonyms and near-synonyms. Each pair is not redundant but cumulative: each term contributes a slightly different register, etymology, or sensory quality. The effect is immersive rather than descriptive — the reader experiences the storm’s multiplied intensities rather than observing them from analytical distance. This formal innovation, semantic saturation, is Dr. Bemanian’s distinctive contribution to contemporary poetic technique.

The Solitary Navigator

The “lonely fish in the pond” is neither heroic nor tragic but simply persistent. “Not fearful or timid,” it confronts the “tarn of glare” and pushes the seal. Dr. Bemanian introduces a third mode of navigating chaos: quiet, non-dramatic endurance that neither conquers the storm nor succumbs to it but moves through it with clear-eyed purpose. The fish that swims and swims, that sows the seeds, becomes the poem’s emblem of earned passage through what cannot be avoided and must not be fled.

The Storm Within

Stanza Four is the poem’s philosophical pivot. The natural storm is explicitly named as “fugacious” — passing quickly by nature. It is “oblivious, neglectful, evanescent and ephemeral intents and deeds” that convert transient disturbance into sustained crisis. The “wavering, vacillating and quivering panics and alarms” either mix and match, or crumble and collapse. Dr. Bemanian diagnoses the internal condition that extends the storm beyond its natural duration, locating resilience in transformed attention rather than transformed circumstance.

Collective Emergence

When the junctures arrive, emergence is not individual but collective and prophetic. Sole Birds leave nests; squirrels emerge from gulfs and dips; dancing trees stand taller; gold eagles push and thrust and climb and soar and rise. The creatures who endure the storm become foretellers of marvels — their emergence is not mere survival but prophecy, the announcement that what the storm made possible is greater than what it took. The natural world participates in the transformation; the sacred birds’ jungle reverberates with lively tones.

The Rainbow as Identity

“And you, the rainbow to survive” — the poem’s most striking formal move transforms the reader from observer to participant. The rainbow is not something seen after the storm but something one is summoned to become: to survive, to sort the jiffies, to maraud and raid. Destiny “surpasses, ameliorates, and transcends” through motion, not through inheritance. This direct second-person address converts the ancient symbol of covenant and Romantic transcendence into an active vocation — the reader is not consoled by the rainbow but called to inhabit it.
